AAKAR       

AAKAR was set up, as a media trust to produce films and research in the area of culture, gender and politics. The Trust has served as a nodal point for support to media practitioners for research, documentation and distribution of films, papers and presentations on culture.

Aakar is a registered trust and has been granted a permanent Registration by the Government of India to receive foreign contribution under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act.

Areas of Work:

• To support and produce research, training, production of material on culture.
• To produce documentaries and films on labour, gender, environment and politics.
• To start a distribution network of documentaries and films
• To screen documentaries and films to promote a visual culture.
• To undertake research and publish papers, books and articles on media and culture.
• To start a documentation centre and archive of documentaries and audio-visual material.
• To organise seminars, conferences and meetings on critical issues of gender, labour and environment.
